These numbers need a translation before they can
be used with the OFA remote. If you want them
for the OFA remote, I'll explain that translation.

Someone asked by email, so to translate for OFA the two digit hex codes from this thread (such as those listed in post 54 [Link: remotecentral.com] )

Get the ir.exe program from
[Link: hifi-remote.com]

Start ir.exe and select the EFC calculator from the Tools menu.

1) Type the hex code into the "Hex command" field.
2) Read the value that appears in the "MSB" field.
3) Retype that value into the "LSB Comp" field.
4) The EFC for use in most OFA remotes appears in the "EFC" field. These EFC's must be three digits, so add leading zeroes if needed.

For example, "SVideo 2" from post 54 was ED. ED in Hex Command produces 237 in MSB, then 237 in LSB Comp produces 80 in EFC, so the right EFC is 080

Also remember that EFC numbers are only meaningful in the context of a specific setup codes. Depending on your OFA model, it may be one of these setup codes (all of which are TV type): 0060, 0427, 0618, 0644, 0702, 0812 or 1060

There are actually two different protocols among those six setup codes. The two differ only in the way the signal duration is generated for longer keypresses, so for many signals that difference doesn't matter. Most of the Pronto Hex in this thread is based on the assumption that the correct one of those two is the one in setup codes 0618, 0702 and 0812. I don't know which is really right (or whether it depends on Samsung model). But the one represented by all that working Pronto Hex is the better guess.
