I contacted Samsung technical support asking for information on discrete codes for their new HLP series of DLP TVs. I received as a response an excel spreadsheet containing a waveform diagram of their remote's signal and a table of remote functions and their corresponding hex codes, such as:

HEX Function
11 0
2 Power
3 Sleep
99 Power On
98 Power Off

I contacted Samsung technical support asking for information on discrete codes for their new HLP series of DLP TVs. I received as a response an excel spreadsheet containing a waveform diagram of their remote's signal and a table of remote functions and their corresponding hex codes, such as (partial table):

HEX Function
11 0
2 Power
3 Sleep
99 Power On
98 Power Off
1B RF (ANT 1)
85 S-Video 1
FB S-Video 2
C2 S-Video 3
43 Component 1
FD Component 2
C3 Component 3
FF DVI
69 PC

Does anyone know how to translate these codes into a form usable by a Pronto TSU3000? Also, I'm going to ask Samsung to confirm that they sent the correct file, as the HLP-series *does not* have a Component-3 input and *does* have a HDMI input, for which there was no hex code given in the table.

Any help would be appriciated. I can post the file they sent to the RemoteCentral file area, if there is any interest.

Dave,

I have a pdf apparently from Samsung with these commands specifically for teh "new" DLP's and Plasmas. I have converted them to decimal in the list below and run MakeHex NECx2:7 to generate them. The three digit number in the left column is the "function" that correleate to the hex commands further below.

Give these a try and if they work (and I think they should) please post it in the ccf files section. This is in classic Proto hex, but IIUC the 3000 can convert it:

Thanks for your post! I'll try these tonight. What program did you use to construct the pronto codes?

I'll report back what I find and will post my pronto config file if I get things working.

Do you have the antenna-1 input code. The component-2 input did work fine...Thanks, Chris

Did you try 27 posted above (first one) that is hex 1B "RF Antenna 1" described above in prontodave's original posts.

One user reported it was function 125 and cable was 123. I have a spreadsheet from the older model and it does list those. I don't have the gear but if 27 doesn't work you can try these:

Device Code: 7 Function: 123
0000 006D 0000 0022 00AC 00AC 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0689

I contacted Samsung technical support asking for
information on discrete codes for their new HLP

Any help would be appriciated. I can post the

if there is any interest.

Dave could you please email me the spreadsheet, the address is in my profile.

Jon, no luck with the pronto hex codes you mailed me. The TV/RF and HDMI codes don't work, nor does the Video 2. This is the same behavior I've seen reported in other posts to AVSForum as well as to Remote Central.

Thanks for the effort, I guess we're going to need to have Samsung weigh in with an answer for us all.

One more follow-up. I also tried codes 123 and 125. Interestingly, when issued, a little box came up on the screen saying "TV" and "Cable", but the tv didn't switch to the ant 1 or ant 2 inputs. I want to try one more thing; pressing the "enter" key when the little box is displayed and see if that makes a difference.

Dave,

There have been reports that the Samsung displays won't switch to a video port without a live signal. So make sure when you try the commands that you have a signal coming into the Samsung. I wonder if that's true for RF. Also "Antenna" is used in two different ways:

1.Switching to TV Tuner as opposed to video inputs and,
2.Actually switching between antenna sources.

I suppose it's possible it does one without the other.

Yes, I've heard that too. I, in fact, don't have anything connected to my HDMI port, however, I do have a coax running to my Ant 1 input and still no luck.

Will a Ch+ take it to the tuner mode? Or possibly a valid channel number(s)+ enter? Keep in mind if you have any discreet video inputs that consistently work, then use it as an anchor in a macro and use (n) video toggles to get it to the desired input.

I don't have the hardware so these are just workarounds that work for other brands.

I can't get either of the DVI codes to work. The other video inputs seem to work fine. If anyone has a true discrete for a Samsung HLP5663W, please post here.

Thanks
