John,

Thanks for the reply... here's the deal. I have a person I have been working with at Samsung Level 2 Tech Support and he has recently sent me the following list that he says he has verified for a firmware 1031 HLP-5685 like I own. I know that in speaking with him on the phone, he said to use 0060 as the device code. He is programming a Pronto TSU6000 there to handle all of this and I believe he plans to make that available to all who request it. That being said, I also believe what you are saying about the device code only being 7. I have not had a chance to check out any of the codes listed... but hope to sometime this weekend. I'll let you know what I find out.

Here is the text of the message he sent me.. perhaps you can translate what he posted here into a confirmation or denial about the device code being 7?

I just completed testing the codes for that version. Below are 2 examples of cleaned up captured codes. The terminal code has changed and the one below works fine. These were tested with the Pronto TSU6000 on the HL-P5085WX/XAA with firmware 1031. On the attached spreadsheet, the codes in color are not available on the standard BP59-00048C remote.

Here is the text of the spreadsheet... it does list a different set than mine, but I don't think the guy is leading me astray since he knows and references my specific set.

I have never seen any other device code used for
any Samsung TV (or any commands posted here) other
than NECx2:7 sometimes expressed as NECx2:7.7.

That is NECx2 protocol, device=7 (and the sub
device is also 7) but subdevice=device in the
NECx2 protocol. That is probably the only thing
that hasn't varied :-)

The problems seem to be:

1. Different models respond to different function
numbers (all use NECx2:7.7), for the same commands.
2. Because of firmware problems certain displays
don't respond to the commands that they are supposed
to even though they are described in documents
published by Samsung.
3. Not all models respond to commands that other
models respond to and probably were never intended
to be.
