Your original power toggle (post 3) is device 176.0, function 61.
176 is generally for DVD and 144 for VCR, so it makes sense your device has some response to both.
But I don't understand the response to device 144, function 61. You say the garbled copy of that is a discrete Power On and the clean copy I posted is no operation.
As for discrete input select, maybe they are in device 176.0. I don't have much info on how the device numbers are used in combo devices.
