One very nice solution is use a RT8 from Xantech, is a IR router.

You have to create a macro, first step: RT8 Port, second step: IR command of your receiver.

Also you will need an IR Receiver, PS, Flasher and RC68+ Programmer, there is a product application pdf at www.xantech.com.
