thanks for your help on this. All good points to remember. I finally DID get the remote to work...used codes from "files" section and did the cut and paste routine. I think I saved face with the clients too, aftyer deciding to describe the problem I was having and the eventual cure they drew a blank stare...sort of "wow this guy must know his stuff because I don't have a clue what he just described" look on their face.
