yeah. i looked into this for a client who wanted a real short throw. generically speaking, most projectors have a pretty long throw these days compared to the old three-CRT projectors (making it hard to sell a new projector to drop into an expensive prior setup); I ran across a couple that had sort of long throws, but they were in the $10,000 range.
check out models you have heard of at projectorcentral.com; they have a calculator there that will let you dry-run the dimensions to see if one will work.
