In the rear, but for what I gather you don't have room for the speakers to be in the rear, so you could situate those 2 speakers at the rear corners of the rectangular shaped room facing towards the lounge if the set up allows you to do that. As for the effect speakers, usually manufacturers recommend at ear's level, but 1 or 2 feet above is fine.
