I find that the fire rated enclosures are not adequate in interior volume. I much prefer the wood enclosures also when using them. To me.. The cans are a compromise.

Don't forget that most speakers are designed for a much larger enclosure. That's why I cringe when I see them mounted under the windows in a dining room for instance..

I'm no expert, but I have built speakers from scratch before.
