Spiky, only the non-phone-hooked-up (!) receivers dropped the locals, so I'd guess the receivers themselves did it. Besides, TiVo features (recording, dual-tuning, etc.) will stop after 30 days of no completed calls.

Otherwise, the receivers worked fine, including the last-30-minutes-backup. None of them were plugged in for several months, due to laziness. I never heard a peep about not plugging them all in.
