Sorry Impaqt, but your logic is wanting here. Orion is simply reporting on the market value of used audio products. When they give an old McIntosh product a high value, they are not "endorsing" it any more than they are "critisizing" a product they give a low value to. Tom never said that vintage McIntosh equipment wasn't valuable, he simply expressed his opinion about buyers of it. Therefore, the fact that Orion gives vintage McIntosh equipment a premium value DOES NOT PROVE OR DISPROVE Tom's comments, NOR do his comments in any way lead to the conclusion that he doesn't think the publishers of the Orion Blue Book "aren't too bright".
