I would go with MX800 remotes and your favorite multizone controller. He can upgrade to LCDs and wireless broadband video throughout the house in another year or two when all this silly wiring stuff goes away. Plus if you are controlling any TV receivers (Tivo, PVRs, etc. - the MX800 is way better than an Pronto, not nearly as flexible, but way more user friendly - I have a pile of both and don't touch the Pronto's anymore.)

By the way, the MusiCast sytem looks pretty cool, except like all the other A/V companies stuff, doesn't integrate in any way to your computer network (and none of the computer background companies can make a UI that works - although the PhatNoise home player is very cool and you can take the same cartridge from your house to your car...)
