I just got off with sci atl tech support and they told me that this is a designed feature of the box to do this. When the DVI senses that the TV is off it will shut down the box. I don't see a benefit for this design unless they expect people to leave there receivers on all the time and use the TV power as a discrete system off?
P.S- cablevision tech support told me that all audio must first pass through a TV and then go on to a Receiver. They said no audio from a cable box can be heard if the TV is not on. When I told her she has absolutely no idea what she is talking about and asked to speak to someone else she hung up on me. Thanks for your help cablevision I really appreciate it.
