Thanks for the information on possible codes. Unfortunately, none of these were the power off code. Tried them last night. For your information, should the subject come up again, on the Onkyo Tx-DS595 the following codes apply:

OBC EFC Function
006 182 No response
007 186 No response
008 053 Tape mode
010 055 Phono mode

If you have any more suggestions, I will more than happily try them out. By the by, I have tested everthing in the 170-189 range and no power off in that cluster.
