I want to thank you and the others in this thread for the information provided. I am also "Chipper" (couldn't find my other password). I mistyped the advanced code as 0170 in my post (three up, when I had actually tried 170 to arrive at my AM tuner position. Sorry for the confusion.
After sorting through all of the information in this thread, and trying to make some sense of the various device codes, efc codes, etc. I finally realize that "You just can't get there from here", and I will abandon my attempts to find an advance code or discreet code to turn off my Onkyo. I was just laboring under the misapprehension that any device had a hex code that could be converted to an advance code present somewhere on a UEIC remote. My mistake! Sorry to have taken up so much of your time searching for the holy grail of advance codes.
