Grant,

I think this is the problem. I decoded two ccf files for the DS-595 and it appears to respond to two different sub-devices under NEC1:210, NEC1:210.108 and NEC1:210.109:

Device NEC1:210.108 - No UEIC setup code

OBC EFC

025 249 DSP <
066 167 Up Arrow
067 171 Down Arrow
068 164 CH Select
071 170 Power Off
076 036 Stereo
077 040 Surround
082 103 al st

084 100 RETURN
085 104 Display
140 060 DVD
214 110 RE-EQ
216 237 sound modes

Device NEC1:210.109 - Audio_0135

001 185 Up..............Channel DOWN
002 183 Vol+...........Volume UP
003 187 Vol-............Volume DOWN
004 180 Power on....POWER

159 002 VCR...............N/A

The ones at the bottom are arranged by their function and at the end of the dots the Key on the 2104 in setup code Audio _0135.

If you haven't done this already, the most elegant solution is to go to Rob Crowe's excellent website www.hifi-remote.com and read up on the JP-1 cable and software and do a device upgrade to add the NEC1:210.108 (that is its true device number and protocol).

You can also just learn those commands for device NEC1:210.108 or see if you can get an upgrade from UEIC. The commands that are for NEC1:210.109 at the bottom with no button assigned can be moved around using key moves without a cable -- also described on Rob's website (its under the manual for the 15-1994 that is very similar to the 2104).

It would seem that the On command should work now -- just that you could not turn it off. Obviously since I think it is a discrete On command the unit would have to be Off before issuing the command to see if it works.

Finally it is possible that your receiver might respond to Audio_0100 that is NEC1:210 (no sub-device). Sometimes these are master commands.

Let me know if any of this works,

Jon
