I am having this same problem. I am annoyed that they divided it into 2 'screens' and you have to hit the screen button when there really seems to be enough space without the screen button. They just need to have the arrow key area available on the first screen. Other than this one problem (and the buzzing noise) the remote is fantastic, durable, easily cleaned (I have a 16 month old girl who is facsinated with remotes so this is important) and simple to use.

I am sure someone has found a good solution, if so please post it!!
