First of all let me just thank you for assisting me with this.

I tried to enter the codes for navigating the menu, but the problem is that the original remote has two separate sets of buttons for channel up/down and the navigation keys. For example, when I enter the advanced code for down (557) and assign it to the down key for navigation, the down button now operates as channel down, but does not operate within the VCR menu screen.
