I settled on a Sylvania 17MF200V for the bedroom.
The code that worked was 1254.
Then I exchanged the remote for the 8910 at OFas suggestion.
The salesman recommended the Toshiba DVD / VCR combo.
All the codes seem to work no problems now.
I appreciate everones help.
