Is the blue "reply" button at the bottom left of a thread
as useless as I think it is? It doesn't seem to serve
a purpose, as clicking it just takes you to exactly where

Blue? Bottom left of a thread, en entire thread? I see "Reply" in black at the bottom right of each post, not at the bottom left of anything. Is that what you're talking about? On that line, the signature is at the left, "Quote & Reply" is the far right, and "Reply," in black, is just to the left of "Quote & Reply."
