Honestly I couldn't even see the difference on my PC, but I've changed it for you...

Looks great now. I don't know how noticeable it is on this old forum, but I have my monitor's contrast and brightness pretty low (save the eyes), so it's easier to notice little things like that.

I must say this new forum looks absolutely amazing! Easily going to be the best forum on the internet (although it already is, you've only got yourself to compete with).

Thanks!

Originally when I started working I had only meant to do all the behind-the-scenes changes to update the forum structure and features, but as I was working I figured I may as well update the design to something closer to my "new standard". Only problem is that made the project 2 or 3 times longer than it would have been without! It's amazing how long a particular little design detail can take to finalize... or even code just right!

The beauty is the new system design will let me add new features (like attachments) with a lot less effort at future dates (since this is a major change I had to cut off new features at some point - too much to test/troubleshoot all at once), and then the new visual design should hold for some time... so I won't have to spend more time redoing that in a year.

Is the blue "reply" button at the bottom left of a thread as useless as I think it is? It doesn't seem to serve a purpose, as clicking it just takes you to exactly where you already are.

Pretty much. Depending on the resolution of your screen and where the button is, it may lower your view a bit down to the reply box.

I still wanted to have a "new thread" button in that location, but people have the tendancy to press that when they really meant to reply to the current thread. So I put "reply" right next to it.

Blue? Bottom left of a thread, en entire thread? I see "Reply" in black at the bottom right of each post, not at the bottom left of anything. Is that what you're talking about? On that line, the signature is at the left, "Quote & Reply" is the far right, and "Reply," in black, is just to the left of "Quote & Reply."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Is it too late to suggest a search engine for threads....?

I was just trying to get OTAHD info for Barrie and having a method for searching specific words in large threads would be awesome.

However at this point, at least I know within the 96+ pages of the T&B HDTV Reception sticky, Barrie is mentioned somewhere...lol

That's already available in the "current" forum system, and has also been implemented in the new forum system (when threads are a few pages long). Look underneath the last post on a page around where the page links are.

Hey Dan man. I like the new layout. It's a little easier to look at, and to navigate. The new tabs for Reply, and RC mail is probly my favorite.

can't wait
