Your idea might be feasible but it's not very practical nor economical given the degree of difficulty and exhorbitant cost of the NetX device.
From posts in the iPronto forum, it's not clear how the iPronto communicates with the NetX device(s). Barry Gordon said he saw no LAN activity with a sniffer except when configuring. My guess is they use Ad Hoc mode to send the codes. You'll need to know the communications protocol, also. You might be able to get this using a WiFi sniffer but you'll need to have an iPronto to send the signals.
Look at the Global Caché GC-100. It is not WiFi so you'll need a wireless router or WAP.
