Could someone please advise if this idea is feasible:-
I want to remote control my AV kit (Sky+) from another room. Can I configure an iPAQ 3970 with a WifI card installed to control a Philips NetX remote extender over my home Wifi network?
In other words what I'm asking is can i get my PDA to emulate a Philips iPronto including sending the appropriate commands over WiFI to a NetX (it would just think it was reciving commands from an iPronto?)
Basically I dont want ot spend over £1k on a posh remote control but would be happy to spen a bit to get a NetX..
Thanks for your help.

Your idea might be feasible but it's not very practical nor economical given the degree of difficulty and exhorbitant cost of the NetX device.
From posts in the iPronto forum, it's not clear how the iPronto communicates with the NetX device(s). Barry Gordon said he saw no LAN activity with a sniffer except when configuring. My guess is they use Ad Hoc mode to send the codes. You'll need to know the communications protocol, also. You might be able to get this using a WiFi sniffer but you'll need to have an iPronto to send the signals.
Look at the Global Caché GC-100. It is not WiFi so you'll need a wireless router or WAP.
