Thanks for trying to help Daniel and of course you are right about the IR sensor being behind the screen.

I consulted with a Custom Installer and he noted:

"The sensor is inside mounted next to the color guns.
Just take the front screen off the set, drill a small
hole below the mirror for your wire, and mount the
flasher NEXT to, but not on top of the sensor."

I have done this and he was right on the money.

I checked with Toshiba and they gave me the same information but noted that taking off the front screen and/or drilling a hole through the back would void my warranty.
