If you want to use the CM232, the RS232 codes should be in the manual that came with the plasma. I controlled a 503 with the following strings:
Power ON : \d002\d000\\PON\d003
Input 3: \d002\d000\\IN3\d003
Power OFF : \d002\d000\POF\d003
with a baud rate of 4800.
