I spoke with Peter again on Friday. He said it was a resistor, not a transistor, that was causing a small reduction in battery life (like 2% he said) in the first 200 units built. I have a "newer" unit now, and I'm still only seeing two weeks of use. Peter had nothing else to offer. I guess I'll just wait this out.
