I never got an opportunity to check Proggieus's suggestion. On install day I discovered that the cat5 I was going to use did not go back to the A/V rack where the RP6 was to be installed. I ended up putting the TV on IR and of course it worked fine. It only turns on and off and has volume control.
I can now see in theory how that approach would work. Although, I never do a system on macro only a system off. I have any necessary on commands built into whatever activity they select. I guess I could set a flag for power on with the @G\r and clear the flag with the @Q\r. This should allow the volume to work the way that I needed. Anyway great suggestion! I appreciate it!
