I am having some problems with the RS-232 on the BD8002 as well. I do have the POWER ON command working just fine, but POWER OFF is not working. Additionally, I am getting very intermittent results with play, pause, skip, cursor commands, etc.

They work, but sometimes need 2-5 key presses on the remote and sometime no response at all.

Your string for POWER ON command is what I have.

It really seems to be problems with the unit, but with such mixed results it's tough to tell.
