No....you need to either build or buy the JP1 cable, then download what's called the KM spreadsheet and a program called IR.EXE.
There are a number of FAQ and README files located on the JP1 Yahoo Group...but I have to say...it will take a little time investment on your part to get up and going. Also check out the FAQ on the new JP1 Forum (not yahoo). Oh yeah...and

What you would do is open the file you found in the spreadsheet. Put the values shown in the spreadsheet into IR.EXE. You use that program to send the info into your Rat-Shack remote via the JP1 cable. Try it out....if it works...then learn the new signals into your MX.
It sounds complicated...and you'll likely remove all your own hair the first go at it....but it's easy once you get the hang of things.
