No, no need to use the 994 procedure to just to test. Press AUD, tap SET once, and enter 000, the command will fire, and the receiver might respond. The Reset command doesn't reset the remote, you will lose the Radio stations you might have programmed into the receiver itself. Let it happen, just ontinue searching the commands till you get to 255.
I have searched EFC's for pioneer commands many times, I look for certain commands, when I find them, I stop. these include:
061-CDR/TAPE, the old tape command doesn't work. 192 DVD/LD 191- Right cursor 195- left cursor 193- Down 189- Up
I never looked for the Surround command, I have migraines, static and Surround sets them off.:(
