Since you are able to reproduce it, can you try downgrading the remote (if the remote allows it) to the version before the last update (as I mentioned a few posts up)?

If it works with the older version, that will tell them that it was introduced with the last update and also that it something that should be able to be fixed with a firmware update and not a hardware update.
