I need to replace my non-backlight MX-700 with another remote. I use the following features on the MX-700, so the new one must have them too.

5 Activities, with macros for each activity button beside the LCD screen.
Goto page short cuts.

Squeezebox x2 (with seperate amp volume punch throughs)
DVD player, Oppo 981
Lexicon MC-1
Samsung M87
Audiolab 8000Q
Dimmer

I noticed the MX-850 is basically the same, but with RF features. But I don't use two pages of devices, so would another cheaper model suit me better? I've used a MX-500 and it would be ideal if it had the macro function of the MX-700, granted it'll take longer to setup but since I have MX-700 with discrete IR codes the saving would be worth it the built-in database isn't that important anymore, although MX Editor makes it far quicker to programme.

Also have URC improved the backlight? The MX-500 backlight LCD is far brighter than my 700 (on the 700 the text is lit, on the 500 it's the reverse)
Shut it Dole scum! :-)
