I dont recall getting shocked from the remote. Obviously I can only assume it was my doing even though neither my couch or myself have anything remotely resembling velour at the time of the incident. I was attempting to increase volume on the amp. As it did, the screen appeared frozen. After waiting few mins, I decided to take the baterries out and put it back in. (since there is no hard reset on this remote) . Then I noticed it running TEST and displayed RAM FAIL.

Is there a way to protect remotes from static shock?
