You would never be able to hear any difference, if you switched to digital coax.
Your second question relating to PQ I cannot answer. LOL... I had the opprotunity to audition one of the 995's the other day and it wouldn't read a single DVD. This was used of course but none the less, not too impressive.
I would be surprised if the 995's scaling would be better than the elite 82. But then again I haven't read anything negative about the Sony's capabilities in that area. I guess the one plus would be not having the additional equipment (receiver) in line. DVD player to display, rather than DVD to Reciever to Display.
If you do end up with one, post how the PQ compares to the elite's abilities. I would like to know.
