Larry knows his stuff. He recently helped me with my 4-way. I found the box with the 4 wires to be the most challenging. Connect 2 of the wires to the red on the slave and connect the remaining 2 wires to one of the blue wires on the slave. Cap off the remaining blue (slave) with a wire nut.

I don't know how it works, but it does!
