Normally you'd only have like 7 or so functions with X-10 (for every IR543 that you bought), but if you are running a Houselink or something on the computer that does things in response to an X-10 command, you can actual expand your number of functions by looking for specific states (A1 on, A1 off, A1 dim, A1 bright, etc).
