Another autoplay fix (not mine but I wish I had thought of it) is to put a CD with a few minutes of silence or even a custom burned DVD in slot 1. Yes, you sacrifice a slot, but you have 399 others to fill. When you finish playing the title you want to watch and are ready to power down, load up the disc in slot 1, wait a few seconds and then power down. If you can program macros into your remote, it is all automatic:

POWER DOWN sequence:
a) go to slot 1
b) pause 2-5 seconds
c) power off

The next time you power up, a disc with silence (or even a spoken or text message if you know how to author DVDs or CDs) will begin playing.

I've found it to be a blessing to the annoying autoplay "feature".

However, I have to admit I like dankchief's solution too.

When in doubt, mumble.
