Vector, you can never have too much power, and I am not pulling a Tim Taylor (tool time tv show). speakers place the demand on the amp not the other way around, and the more power you have the less distrortion the amp will produce, because it is under less stress. So if you are happy with your amp and it has that much power, it is probably a more powerful amp than the Denon you covet, even though it is older. If you cannot make up your mind on what to buy, work with a dealer that will let you take speakers home for an in house demo, or at least bring your rig into their showroom so you can hear for your self how the combo will sound. If you are close to Richmond, VA you are more than welcome to come by and see what we have, and take a pair home to demo if you would like.
