I come here often, and always on purpose for what is new, so it never occurred to me that google would direct people to that thread. I now see why someone might add a comment to a six-year old thread.

If Audio God hadn't posted, I may have used the confusing
and incorrect info given before hand. I am sure there
are thousands of lurkers who read your old threads from
2000 via google. Just because a thread is old doesn't
mean you can't add more valuable info to it.

No, that's totally true. But we are used to using this site for the transfer of current information, and adding a comment to a very old post looks pointless because the person who asked the question originally has obviously moved on.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
