I remember reading in an earlier post that someone was looking for a way to disable the backlighting when you didn't need it. Well, I hope I am not repeating anyone, but I just happened to stumble on this by accident. If you don't need your backlighting and want to conserve battery juice do the following: when backlighting is lit, turn off using the "light bulb" button. You should now be able to press any key--except the light bulb--and the backlighting will not activate. To re-activate just turn on by pressing the light bulb button and let the self-timer deactivate the backlighting, then everytime you hit a key the backlighting will turn on. Simply as that!
