I had mentioned earlier that the batteries were out of a 3000 for 5 days, new ones put in, all memory was still there, so in addition to what mjt said, iI guess it is agreed that you dont need to be in a huge rush to install the new batteries if yours go dead. I havent tried the rechargable route yet.
