You asked easy questions. I'd ask why enabling Dolby-B while playing a cassette tape seemed to reduce the high frequency output. I didn't expect any of them to be able to correctly answer this, but I wanted to see if they attempted to snow me and how they handled themselves when encountering an unfamiliar situation.
30 ounce tracking force would certainly clean a layer of dust out of the groves (along with some vinyl)! But, you'd need a specially reinforced stylus and a fortified head shell and arm lift in order to complete this task.

It was a 30 question test so it separated the men from the boys.
Later we started repairing computer monitors. I had not developed a separate test for monitor repair, and like every applicant, the guy who came in to do monitor repairs, said he knew them, and was really good. After he floundered hopelessly for a couple weeks, he admitted that he had only worked on one, and it was his own. Bye-bye.
