The public's mindset has become "buy a few samples and return the ones you don't like." The 'showroom' has moved to the home. I see boxes of shoes, socks, shirts, small electronics, etc. arrive a customer's location. Most of these will be returned in a day or two. There are a couple of 'warehouse' stores in my area that unload the returns. I suppose that a large operation can justify the cost of returns because there is no need for retail space and staff, but it is hard on us small guys who have no reasonable way to absorb the returns.
