480i was in the original spec (SMPTE 259M) for SDI. But that doesn't mean the conversion circuit for the HDMI will allow it. So a 480i signal 'could' be a problem.

I notice all the generic versions of them on the internet have disappeared as well! WTF?
I found a set in South Africa for sale still. Again, these things worked great for 1080p. Why have they disappeared from the Earth?
