I had a recent head scratcher with a Yamaha receiver where a Samsung TV said "No Signal" on all HDMI inputs, but the TV was aware when an HDMI connection was made. I also tried the cable box directly into the TV with the same result. I then tried a DVD player directly into the TV, same result. (And I swapped HDMI cables) We replaced the TV and still had "No Signal" on the Yamaha and cable box. The DVD player was OK.

I suspect that there was a lightning strike on the cable system that took out the cable box, Yamaha, and TV's HDMI signal path. I had a similar failure at another location that I know had a strike. The service center "repaired" receiver still did not work right and Yamaha dealt with that directly. This is one reason why I like Yamaha.

Ernie: Check to make sure that the HDMI audio input is correctly assigned. For example the ARC audio input is assigned to overlay a digital audio input. I imagine that things could get strange if HDMI audio is reassigned.
