The better brands, Sony, Samsung, LG are pretty trustworthy. That being said, if you buy an entry-level in any one of those brands, you might get hosed. Brad says that is the case with LG, others have seen it with Sony and Samsung.
Better brands, models midline and up, that gives you your best chance.
I was on the horn with LG support because the photos on the websites for the distributor and LG show 3 HDMI inputs, but the description indicates four. He seemed to be unaware that universal remotes are used for this crap, too. I'm totally sick of people not knowing their damn products.
One of the models I'm considering is the LG 75UM7570PUD and none of their manuals show the correct number of HDMI ports.
I may start drinking again.
