I suppose this is just another case where you have to keep your brain turned on while working.

Why is it their fault when installers connect the output jack of a device that comes after the source to that device's output jack? Out goes to In- it's that simple.

Yes- keep the brain turned on, but don't overthink the problem.

Has anything actually been labeled so it shows the name of the connection on the preceding device? I don't think so.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
