I did not have the cable box as it's at my customer's house, fifty miles away. Inconveniently, his remote was with his box.

I came here asking for ANY help getting codes. Sorry for not being blatant about this being for programming a URC remote for the client. I cannot understand how the response to a request for IR codes is somehow in any way related to pairing the RF part of the remote.

Since I'm having a hard time finding THIS BIT of information, maybe someone knows this: how do you unpair the remote so it reverts to IR control of the box?

The code set in the URC database works in some ways, but, for instance, SEARCH lowers the volume, and a few other commands likewise do the wrong thing.

Anyone know how to unpair this thing? Then I can teach the commands!

FOUND IT! Just a little bit down the page at [Link: fccid.io]. Search for "un-pair."

You're the one who mentioned RF but apparently, didn't let us know the whole story.

If you had posted that you needed to unpair the remote earlier, I could have told you- I have, as I wrote earlier, worked with a lot of these new boxes.

If you ever need to change the TV, the cable box will identify the brand. You may still need to mess around with entering codes, but there are ways around that, if the local Spectrum people have a clue. Not all of them will, but if you escalate the call, you should be able to find someone who knows these better than the others.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
