As Fins said; if he is an Apple guy then he should get an Apple TV not a Roku. The Apple TV is going to have tight integration with his Apple account and all his other devices. This is what Apple does.
The only reason for someone like that to not get an Apple TV, is if they are being cheap or if there is a particular service he wants that is not available on Apple TV.
