Those are very different slices of the pie being discussed.  C4 literally disallows you from logging in to the system.  Only the dealer of record can program it.  With Total Control, as an example, being that is what I work with primarily, I could service the system forever.  The software I have will even update.  Tech support and such, I am not sure how it would work, if at all if a dealership was taken away.  But actual ability to program a system with C4, even if you have the software is removed if the dealer of record is changed to a different dealer.

I saw your response in post 24 about C4. It clears up the confusion in post 13.

This bit in Mission Systems post about C4 didnt register because i have never heard of software being disabled. That would definitely make them unique...and not in a good way.
